Studio Labs

The work that sits outside the system.

Not everything built here belongs in a stack for running a company. These are the side projects, research tools and one retired product — kept visible because a catalogue that only shows the wins is a brochure.

Still running

Live, maintained, and deliberately not in the twelve.

  • On-device AI bedtime stories for children, in 30 languages.

Still on the App Store and still maintained. It has nothing to do with running a company, which is why it lives here rather than in the twelve.

  • Live VPS pricing and weekly automated benchmarks across ten providers.

A research tool that became a public site. It feeds Server Compass rather than competing with it.

  • Speed-reading training built on eye-movement research.

Shipped and still online, but it never connected to the rest of the work. Kept, not developed.

  • Two reference sites on getting an app onto a server without a platform.

Written while building Server Compass. They still bring in the people the product was made for.

Retired

The one that did not work, and what it changed.

  • Write.Rocks

    Sunset · 2023

A blogging platform for developers — block editor, multi-site, built-in analytics.

Retired. It was a good product in a market that already had ten good products, and it taught the rule the rest of this list follows: build the thing you are already doing by hand.

Three more names were retired without being failures: 1SessionTool, 1AgentBox and 1AIControl shipped as separate products before it was obvious they were features. They now live inside 1DevTool and 1VMTool.
