Moonlit AI — Privacy Policy

Moonlit AI (“Moonlit”, “the App”) is developed and published by StoicSoft. We take your privacy — and your child's privacy — very seriously. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights.

Summary

Moonlit does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All story generation happens on-device using a locally downloaded AI model. No account is required to use the App.

Data We Do Not Collect

Moonlit does not collect:

  • Names, email addresses, or any personal identifiers
  • Your child's name or age (entered data stays on-device only)
  • Stories or prompts you create
  • Usage analytics or behavioral tracking
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers for advertising

On-Device AI Processing

Moonlit uses a machine learning model (Qwen 2.5 1.5B) that runs entirely on your device. Story prompts and generated stories are processed locally and never sent to any server. The AI model is downloaded once from HuggingFace — this is the only network request the App makes during normal use.

In-App Purchases

Moonlit offers a one-time in-app purchase (“Moonlit Premium”) processed through Apple's App Store. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple. StoicSoft does not receive or store your payment information. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles purchase data.

Data Storage

All data — including your child's name, story settings, generated stories, and app preferences — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is not accessible to StoicSoft or any third party. If you delete the App, all data is permanently removed.

Children's Privacy

Moonlit is designed for use by parents and guardians to create stories for children. The App does not collect any information from children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations worldwide.

Third-Party Services

Moonlit does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external network request is the initial model download from HuggingFace (huggingface.co). No user data is shared with HuggingFace or any other third party.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
